FAQ's

  • What do I need to bring?

Camping is a “choose your own adventure” style... Buddy tent? Solo? It’s up to you. You may also specify if you need to rent a tent and sleeping pad, chair, yoga mat, etc. (**additional fees will apply), but you should plan on bringing your own tent, sleeping bag or bedding, air mattress or sleeping pad, pillow, camp chair, towel, refillable water bottle, travel mug, headlamp, sun hat, sunglasses, hiking shoes, river shoes, bathing suit, beach towel and yoga mat in addition to active wear to enjoy a few days in the forest and at the beach. Weather in mid June should be pleasant and warm — expect mid 50s at night and upper 70s during the day. You will receive a full packing list a week prior to the retreat.

Think camping isn’t your thing? No need to sacrifice comfort — Cushy air mattress, pillows, blankets and rechargeable lights can be a game changer….. and are highly recommended for this Rewilding retreat.

*Refillable water bottles are a must at the retreat — we will have fresh water available for drinking. This is a ZERO waste event and no plastic will be used.

  • How do I get to the retreat spot in Big Sur?

Limekiln State Park is about a 1.5 hour drive south from Carmel, a 2 hour drive from Santa Cruz, or a 1.5 hour drive north from San Luis Obispo along the scenic coastal Highway 1. Full driving directions will be sent upon confirmation of your attendance. Limekiln Campground is located about 45 min from Big Sur proper, just a few minutes south of the tiny little "town" of Lucia, and just 20 minutes north of the tiny "town" of Gorda. We are limited in the amount of cars we can have for our campsites so carpooling is a necessity and will be worked out after all spots are filled according to the direction you're coming from.

  • Is there cell phone reception?

There is no signal at the campground and pretty spotty in most of Big Sur — Just a few minutes north of the campground, there is a pullout with cell signal along the highway if you need to check in with loved ones. Getting off grid is part of the magic of being in the wilderness and allows you to be fully present with yourself in the now.

  • How will the meals accommodate dietary restrictions?

The majority of the meals will be dairy free and all are vegetarian, though super duper nutritious, include protein, and extremely satiating. If you have any additional restrictions, accommodations will be made. The meals will be nourishing and balanced & will sustain us through our adventuring. The retreat includes three breakfasts, two lunches, three dinners, snacks, coffee and tea. Though we will be departing by 11am on the final day, snacks will be provided for the drive home.:)

  • What is the bathroom situation?

There are flush toilets at the campground and coin-op warm showers (so bring quarters). They are clean and well maintained and close to our campsite. They have toilet paper and are in individual locking stalls.

  • What is the minimum age to participate in the retreat?

The retreat age is 21 years and older There may be other retreats in the future to include the young adult or teen/tween wilderness woman in your life to share the transformative outdoor experience

  • What is the cancellation policy?

The retreat must be paid in full to hold your spot. Cancellations made at least 30 days in advance of the retreat will receive a 100% refund, cancellations made at least 15 days in advance will receive a 50% refund. After 15 days prior, no refund will be provided, if the retreat is full and the spot can be filled with someone from the waitlist, you will receive your payment back in full.
